5 Tips for Creating an Effective Video Spokesperson

Here at LiveActor, we believe you will find us to be the kind of company that meets all expectations. We are a pioneer in the industry with over 25 years of experience in video production and own our own talent agency with some of the most talented and diverse actors on the Internet. Here are 5 tips we’ve found to be the most helpful in creating an effective video spokesperson for your website.

1) Select the right company: Make sure they are experienced in internet video production and are responsive to your needs. There are many sub-par companies offering video spokespeople on the web. Listen to the sound quality. Is it crisp and clear or does it sound like it was recorded in a tin can? Make sure they shoot in High Definition and that the videos appear in good quality. If they skip or take too long to load, move on.

2) First impressions count! Select a production company with great actors…not mediocre ones just to save money. Be sure to view a demonstration of their work before you make your final selection. This will be the person representing your company’s products, services and image. Confirm with others in your organization that they are appropriate spokespeople. Make sure the video company owns their own talent agency. They are more likely focused on the continuous improvement of their actors.

3) Script length: This should be 1 minute or less for the home page. Make the message clear and concise. Feel free to direct your visitor to other pages of the site. Establish why you are the right company for the job. Briefly explain your products or services or convey a call to action. Be sure it is 1 minute or less so as not to lose the visitor’s attention.

4) Cookie Control: The visitor experience is an important feature of your site. Be sure to select a company that has video player features like “cookie control” that lets you select how many times a day/week an individual visitor sees the video each time they visit your website. They don’t need to hear the video over and over with each visit as this could become annoying. Be sure their video player has features you like.

5) Compare apples to apples. There are no 2 companies that produce internet videos that have the same prices. Beware of companies that make you pay large hosting fees. They lure you in with inexpensive videos but charge an arm and a leg in monthly hosting fees. Ask them to quote in writing all charges you will incur utilizing their services. Note that cheaper is not better! In this business, you get what you pay for. Just because a company has a green screen and a camera, does not make them proficient in their field.
